They were placed #1 in South Korea in 2019 and second in 2020 and 2021 on Forbes’ list of the 40 most powerful celebrities in the country. The popularity of the group and its role in advancing the globalization of the Korean Wave have been acknowledged by international media outlets including Forbes, Billboard, and The Hollywood Reporter. Rolling Stone mentioned Blackpink as an exception to the notion that boy groups are the most popular K-pop bands in the US. Blackpink was listed among the women who are reshaping the music business by People magazine.
